Proteins such like antibodies are often biotinylated for applications. The XpressCheck Biotin test strip is a competitive lateral flow assay-based technique for the rapid detection of protein biotinylation. The assay has a simple procedure and can be completed within 3 minutes without any instrument. The strip can be applied directly to the samples and is compatible with matrixes such as water, PBS, Tris, HEPES etc. Please notice that most cell culture media contain free biotin and cannot be used directly. With serial diluted samples the assay can also be carried out in a semi-quantitative manner to determine the biotin molar concentration. The detection limit of the strip is about 0.2 µM, corresponding to 1 µg/mL biotinylated BSA with an average labeling ratio of 12.
